L2 Planet Issue #9
In this Issue of L2 Planet, we focused on the developments regarding zkSync, Arbitrum, zkLink, Fantom and StarkNet.
zkSync 2.0
There has been a public testnet announcement from zkSync, which has been working on zkEVM for a while. So, what does it include?
For now, zkSync 2.0's Validium side zkPorter is not up for usage. Instead, they're coming out with their zkRollup side, zkEVM. Without having to make any/or minor changes regarding coding, developers are able to deploy their projects onto zkSync 2.0. On the zkSync 2.0, transaction fees can be paid by any ERC20 tokens. Still, the operator can choose which ERC20 tokens they will accept as payment. This prevents the misuse of the operator by shitcoins (which are valueless) and scam tokens. Also, everyone can add any new native tokens to the zkSync permissonless. There has also been an ecosystem page launch, where people can track projects which are being developed on zkSync 2.0.
It looks like zkSync ecosystem will be growing rapidly with the big support from zkDAO. As soon as the project testnets start launching, we will be testing them and and share with you. You can access zkSync's public testnet announcement from here.
Arbitrum AnyTrust Chains
Arbitrum has announced the AnyTrust chain, which allows for cheaper and faster transactions. So what is AnyTrust?
We can say that AnyTrust is actually an improved version of Plasma, it is very suitable for situations where decentralization is not important, such as the gaming industry. It is built on top of the Ethereum network and it cheaper than rollups. It is necessary to trust a committee that the data is available, meaning it gets its security from the committee, not the Ethereum mainnet. Just think there are 20 committee members. If at least two committee members are honest and 19 out of 20 members sign that the data is available, then at least 1 of the honest members has signed that the data is available, so the data should be correct. But what if the committee doesn't sign anything or if a group of committee members refuses to sign? If there is at least one honest committee member, it can move all the state and AnyTrust can continue to work like a Rollup. In this case, AnyTrust works like a standard Optimistic Rollup until the committee works again, there is a waiting period for the withdrawls.

zkLink Structural Changes
zkLink is planning to build a multichain L2 infrastructure which will be utilizing the Zero Knowledge technology.
They once have release a multichain AMM DEX testnet before, and there has been over 2.5 m crosschain transactions on it. zkLink's second testnet will be orderbook style multichain DEX which brings a CEX-like trading experience to users. So according to the new announcement, with its multichain L2 infrastructure, zkLink will be a more general purpose solution.
The team will be focusing on developing the new infrastructure. You can access the details from here.
zkFTM
Fantom, which is an independent L1, might be considering using the Zero Knowledge technology.
In L1s, due to network congestion, there is almost always problems regarding transaction costs. Fantom might be trying to overcome this issue by building a L2 on its network. Andre Cronje's - who has had various responsibilities in Fantom Foundation- directory named ''zkftm'' on GitHub is attracting attention. Will we be able to see a L2 chain on Fantom in the future?
StarkNet Ecosystem*
Layer 2 bridge protocol Orbiter Finance is adding StarkNet support.
For anyone who played OGame in the glorious early 2000’s, ametel01 is building an implementation of it on StarkNet, where planets will be NFTs and resources ERC20 tokens.
ZigZag Exchange have shown off their new trading UI.
Briq alpha 1.2 is out. It introduces the "select & move" function.
Opera browser's built-in wallet app has integrated with DeversiFi.
Alpha Road Finance, a new DeFi platform on StarkNet, introduces itself, as well as a new StarkNet Ecosystem Dashboard.
Introducing zkLend: Coming out of Stealth mode - a new L2 money-market project.
Introducing NFTflow, the liquidity protocol for NFTs on StarkNet.
ZkPad, a launchpad for StarkNet dApps, published an introductory article about its products, as well as their whitepaper.
