L2 Planet Focus: Numio
In this Issue of the L2 Planet 101 series, we focused on Numio which is a L2 mobile wallet.
What is Numio?
Numio is a mobile application built on Ethereum and turbocharged by zkRollups for instant and low fee transfers. Numio gives people the power to have more control over their money and digital identity, right from their pocket.
The goal of Numio is to remove and simplify the complexities commonly found in crypto and blockchain products. With that, they offer their users a fully customizable experience based on their personal preferences.
Overview of Numio:
Available on the Apple App Store and the Android Google Play Store
Non-custodial (your keys, your crypto)
Layer 2 focused wallet built on zkSync
300+ ERC-20 based assets supported
Private keys do not leave the user’s device
Experience 100x cheaper network gas fees when using layer 2
Users have access to their private keys at all times
Account Options
Numio offers you two types of accounts. You can choose your account type according to your preferences.
The first option is -Standard Backup. Assisted registration using cloud backup for your encrypted recovery key, on-device encryption, and NIST-Grade biometric security. The data of your personal information is encrypted and stored in the data server. Some of your datasets are stored in Storj, which is decentralized cloud storage. Numio uses zero-knowledge proof(zkProofs) based encrypt to secure any type of information. Numio has no backdoor access to this information and the only way to decrypt it is through an end user’s biometrics You can check the step-by-step tutorial for registering via standard backup.
Second option is -Advanced Backup. Skipping registration gives you many, but not all, of the features of a regular Numio account. You still get usernames, zkRollups and their soon to be released trading, swaps, and NFTs, but with minimal personal information required. While this might make it more complicated to recover your account, you can be sure that you are in full control of your personal data. You can check the step-by-step tutorial for registering via advanced backup.
Future Features
Although the app currently supports Ethereum Layer 1 swaps, Numio has integrated Layer 2 swap technology which will go live very soon. Also, the team working on supporting NFTs on Numio. View your cool NFTs right from your pocket. (along with some other important features!) – single views, collection view, archive views, and more. Next steps, you will see a preview of these upcoming features.
